Gambling with human lives

Thomas Midgley is probably a good example of science’s arrogance and blindness (regardless of whether he acted bona fide or not): You simply do not play card with nature and think you have a winning hand.

My father was a gambler. He NEVER played with very rich people. I asked him why: «You could win much more from playing with them. You’re very good at it!», I said.

«You never have a winning hand for sure. You simply win by exploiting others’ fear. I don’t have the money to bring people with unlimited resources to fear for a loss», he said.

Nature has unlimited resources. Time is one of them.
